See the Solar Eclipse in 2026

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the earth and the sun, blocking out the sun’s rays. Because the moon’s orbit isn’t aligned precisely with the earth, sometimes it only blocks out some of the light (a partial eclipse vs. a total eclipse). The sky at night has a deep, longstanding relationship with seafarers, and it has been used as a navigation tool for thousands of years, so what better place to experience this incredible celestial event than on a cruise?

The next total solar eclipse will occur in Europe on the 12th of August 2026, and a selection of cruise lines have created a limited number of unique itineraries to celebrate this fact. Whilst activities vary from cruise line to cruise line, you can expect lectures from astronomy experts, eclipse-themed menus, night-time stargazing, entertainment and trivia and, of course, the big event itself.

Interested? Give us a call, and our friendly team will be able to let you know what cruise line is best suited to you.
